Who is this program for?

Today, the manufacturing industry is in the midst of transitioning to the Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0, also known as smart manufacturing, resulting in the transformation of businesses and the workforce at an unprecedented pace through exponential technologies and changes. "Smart" manufacturers who embrace Industry 4.0 are improving profits and creating more jobs. The use of technologies such as AI/ML, Robotics, Additive Manufacturing (3D printing), IoT, and Cloud Computing have opened-up opportunities and accelerated development while increasing efficiency and effectiveness. To successfully implement new technology and run operations, this requires a workforce that possesses "digital dexterity." Employees must understand the industry's manufacturing, processes, and digital tools that support its operations. For many organizations, this means hiring new talent or providing additional training to their existing workforce.

Why Choose a Career In Smart Manufacturing?

A Growing Industry
Industry 4.0 is about physical production and operations while utilizing smart digital technology to create a more comprehensive and better-connected ecosystem for companies that mainly focus on manufacturing and supply chain management.
An Exciting Sector
The potential to work alongside robots is one of the many things that make this industry such an exciting prospect. The introduction of robotics means that more high-skilled jobs will open up in this sector.
Work with New Technology
There is plenty of new technology introduced in the manufacturing sector. The industry's future lies in 'smart factories' that use cutting-edge software and have robots and devices that are hooked up to the 'Internet-of-Things.' By choosing your career in the manufacturing sector, you will be able to learn valuable skills that will keep you up-to-date with the world's latest technology.
Hone Your Skills
There is currently a skills shortage in this sector, this could be an opportunity to improve your current skills and learn plenty of new things. Employers in manufacturing are typically looking for people with these new skillsets in smart manufacturing.
Wage Benefits
Because of the skills shortage, manufacturing companies currently aspire to improve their employee retention rates. Working in manufacturing and aligning with the company's goals, this could lead to a stable and potentially well-paid career.
Industry Shift
A shift to smart manufacturing requires companies to be more competitive and increase revenues. As more manufacturers embrace high-tech solutions, employees must have more high-tech skills in analytics, data science, and software engineering knowledge.
